Growing up in Colorado, Scott developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors. An avid skier, mountaineer and paddler, Scott has spent much of his life chasing the next adventure. After graduating from CU-Boulder in 2001, Scott was called to the ultimate adventure and joined the US Army. For the better part of the next decade, Scott served in various leadership capacities and deployed to combat on numerous occasions in support of the Global War on Terror. After Honorable Discharge, Scott followed his passion once again moving to the Vail Valley of Colorado. He explored the mountains and rivers as a backcountry/rafting guide in the summers and worked as an on-mountain risk management professional for a major ski resort operator during the winters. This experience renewed Scott's appreciation for the backcountry, introduced him to the guiding profession, and provided a unique perspective on adventure travel/tourism. Scott truely believes that he's found his dream job as the 4th owner of The World Outdoors, and looks forward to sharing adventures and making memories with you!
Originally from Galveston Island in Texas, Lauren grew up loving the outdoors and travel. Pursuing her passion, she attended the great Texas A&M University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences (class of 2012, whoop!). While at A&M, Lauren did a study abroad to New Zealand and was an active member/president of the snow skiing and mountain biking club. After going on several ski trips to Colorado, Utah and Lake Tahoe, she decided to move up to the Boulder area in the summer of 2013. Lauren loves to ski, mountain bike, hike and just about anything in the great outdoors! Some of her best memories include trips to Crested Butte and Telluride. After being a travel agent for 3 years, she decided it was best to move on to something more specialized. Lauren joined the team at The World Outdoors in early 2015 where she handles the reservations and guest services.
Mark has been guiding tours for The World Outdoors since 2005 and is now our Senior Guide and Operations Director. The mountains and canyons of the western states are Mark's favorite playgrounds. Whether climbing alpine rock, hiking remote trails, or floating down a desert river, wild places are where he feels at home. After earning a BS in Adventure Based Program Management at Lyndon State College Mark moved to Colorado and began a career in the great outdoors. Mark is a Wilderness EMT, AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, and AIARE Avalanche Level 2. He divides his time between Boulder and Nederland, Colorado where he works as a professional Ski Patroller in the winter months.
