Boulder, CO -- As the most sought-after travel destination in the United States, Alaska beckons to all world travelers. And The World Outdoors, a 16-year-old adventure travel company that pioneered multi-sport tours, is now offering two unique Alaska adventures that deliver the land of the midnight sun in an absolutely unforgettable way.
Visitors to Alaska expect a diverse land of crystal glaciers, lush forests, immense valleys, seemingly endless coastline, and abundant though elusive wildlife including grizzly bears, bald eagles, whales, otters and salmon. On the Alaska Hiker Adventure and the Alaska Wilderness Multi-Sport Adventure, participants find all of that--and much more. Both trips feature wonderful days spent in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest national park in the United States, recently recognized as a World Heritage Site for its extraordinary beauty and a little-known park jewel offering stunning glimpses of the Alaska wilderness.
Participants on the Alaska Hiker Adventure will explore this exotic
territory on foot. They'll journey beneath towering mountains, across
verdant valleys, and along tranquil shores, ultimately coming away with
a true appreciation and love for Alaska's expansive wilderness. The
journey begins with a hike along the shores of Eklutna Lake, home to
Dall sheep, moose, eagles, and bears. A scenic flight takes the hikers
to Wrangell-St. Elias, where they'll tour a ghost town, explore the
massive Root Glacier, and hike the historic Bonanza Mine, which features
glaciers, waterfalls and ruins. A cozy mountain lodge serves as home
for a few nights before the group heads to Valdez, or Alaska's Little
Switzerland.
A thrilling raft ride down the Tsaina River provides a rest for the
feet, before the next day's hike to Shoup Bay and optional sea kayaking
in an unbeatable setting. End this seven-day, six-night adventure with
an unforgettable ferry ride across Prince William Sound where orca whales,
sea otters, and harbor seals cavort among floating icebergs.
The only tour of its kind in the world, the Alaska Wilderness Multi-Sport offers the chance to explore the rugged Alaskan country by land, air and water as participants bike along lakes, hike through meadows, raft Class III-IV whitewater, sea kayak the majestic Prince William Sound, and fly into the very heart of Wrangell-St. Elias. Optional ice climbing lessons under the careful watch of expert instructions are also available, as is an incredible self-guided five-day extension to Denali National Park by train, aboard the spectacular Denali Star, specially designed for sightseeing and wildlife viewing.
These awesome Alaska adventures include all accommodations, meals, expert natural guides and vehicle support, with departure dates scheduled throughout the summer. Special singles and family dates are available.
