The World Outdoors Announces Its New 2005 Adventures

The World Outdoors, a travel company devoted to offering extraordinary, off-the-beaten path adventures, has announced its line-up for 2005–12 unique new programs that meet the company's demanding standards for fun, adventure and quality.

For almost 20 years, The World Outdoors has had one of the industry's strongest offerings of active vacations in the western United States; the company continues that tradition with this year's new packages:

Black Hills Multi-Sport–Criss-cross the path of General George Armstrong Custer's 1874 Black Hills Expedition on foot, bicycle and horseback on this Black Hills multi-sport adventure. Reminiscent of the frontier period, guests can expect to see herds of bison, flocks of wild turkeys, pronghorn, elk, mule and white-tailed deer, bighorn sheep, coyotes, prairie dogs and wild burros as they explore the Badlands and Custer State Park.

Kenai-Katmai Multi-Sport–Tundra-clad mountains, tidewater glaciers, mist-shrouded coast lines, primeval forests and enough wildlife to fill a dozen rolls of film, travelers on this adventure find all of this and more. In addition, they hike, raft, kayak, and bike the Kenai wilderness paradise, including the awesome Katmai National Park, Alaska's kingdom of the grizzlies.

Glacier Bay Adventure Cruise–This small-ship cruise features seven days spent exploring Alaska's three million-acre Glacier Bay wilderness by kayak and foot. Whales, grizzlies, eagles, ancient forests, and calving glaciers–guests visit the hidden gems that big-ship travelers never see. Cruise-Reports.com gives this action packed cruise three perfect 10s for activities, ports and excursions.

Rocky Mountain Multi-Sport–Rocky Mountain National Park and surrounding wilderness areas are the showstoppers of the West, featuring emerald lakes, wildflower meadows and old-growth forests nestled amid 14,000-foot peaks. Suited to a variety of abilities and interests, this adventure mixes spectacular alpine hiking, off-the-beaten-path biking, world-class rock climbing and whitewater rafting or kayaking on the mighty Colorado River.

Kokopelli Multi-Sport–This trip delivers the next level of back-country adventure, including single-track riding on the Kokopelli Trail, whitewater rafting in Westwater Canyon, hiking in Arches National Park, mountain biking in the mecca of Moab, and rock climbing in the Moab Valley.

In addition to its exciting United States programs, The World Outdoors offers an ever-expanding portfolio of international adventures. For 2005, the company has added its first trips to Asia and Africa, along with the same popular options featured last year:

Ireland Multi-Sport–This active adventure provides hiking along seaside cliffs and lake-studded peat lands, biking charming rural back roads, sea kayaking in a fjord, and horseback riding through forest and field. Add strolls through quaint streets, visits to historic mansions and opportunities to share a pint at the village pub, and this adventure delivers an truly unparalleled Irish experience.

China Multi-Sport–Home to one of the world's longest continuous civilizations, China is a country of contrasts, from picturesque rural landscapes to teeming cities, with natural beauty that ranges from the untamed to the idyllic. This is the chance to see the real China as few will, hiking and biking the most scenic areas of China, from the palaces of Beijing to the Great Wall to the Yellow Mountains and Guilin.

Kilimanjaro Hiker & Wildlife Safari–This classic adventure combines two legendary African experiences: a climb of Africa's most storied summit, the 19,344-foot Kilimanjaro, and a wildlife safari in Africa's most celebrated game country, the Serengeti Plain and Ngorongoro Crater. Guests also experience local culture with a stay in a traditional Chagga village.

Futaleufu Multi-Sport –The Futaleufu River in the Patagonia region of southern Chile is the setting for nonstop fun. Set amid stone towers, snow-capped peaks and old-growth forests, the mighty Fu offers some of the best whitewater rafting found anywhere in the world, but rafting is only the beginning for guests who make this selection.

Osa Peninsula Multi-Sport–On this adventure, guests journey through the beauty of the wildest, most diversified and unexplored region of Costa Rica-the Osa Peninsula. From hiking and horseback riding through the expansive virgin rainforests of Corcovado and Piedras Blancas National Parks to sea kayaking and snorkeling the tropical beaches of Golfo Ducle and Caño Island, travelers definitely enjoy what Costa Ricans call "pura vida", or the good life!

Zambia Wildlife Safari–Experience Africa by foot and canoe, just like the first explorers, on this safari adventure to undiscovered Zambia. Off the tourist track and home to giant wilderness parks, Zambia is where the Africa of Stanley and Livingstone still survives.

Belize Eco-Lodge Multi-Sport–This trip features southern Belize's wild jungles, magnificent Mayan archaeological sites and turquoise waters of the southern Belize Barrier Reef. With local guides, guests explore the jungle and delight in a stunning variety of wildlife on the Golden Stream.

The World Outdoors is in the business of making dreams come true and sharing hidden, off-the-beaten-path adventures with its guests.
