Slovenia Multisport Tour
Hike, Bike, Climb, Cave, Raft, Canyoning and Hydrospeeding
Slovenia has magnificnet alpine scenery, loads of Old World charm and open-armed hospitality...all still largely undiscovered by the tourist hordes.
Days 1-3: Ljubljana-Bled-Julian Alps
Upon arrival and transfer to our hotel, we enjoy a tour of Ljubljana. We bike in breathtaking Triglav National Park and through the lush Radovna Valley and then hike in awesome Vintgar Gorge. We visit thousand-year-old Bled Castle and then ride the following day through the heart of the Julian Alps with alpine meadows, mountain farms and splendid vistas.
Days 4-6: Lake Bohinj-Mt. Mangart
Ringed by mountains, Lake Bohinj is Slovenia's largest glacial lake. Here we swim, canoe or stroll its picturesque shore. Next up is rock climbing and rappelling--no prior experience required! We take a spectacular alpine hike from Vrsic Pass to the Valley of Tamar. The next day we hike up Mt. Mangart, third highest in the country at 8,841 feet, from which we can see into Italy.
Days 7-10: Bovec-Soca Valley-Ljubljana
A scenic drive to the ancient city of Bovec allows for a stop at the World War I Isonzo Battlefield, the place where Ernest Hemingway served and the setting for A Farewell to Arms. The Class II-IV rapids of the Soca River make for some great whitewater fun followed by an afternoon of cave exploration. Our final full day in Slovenia provides an introduction to the new adventure sports of canyoning and hydrospeeding. First we hike, climb, rappel, slide and swim through waterfalls, rapids and pools and then slalom the river's rapids on modified boogie boards. After a leisurely morning we return to the the capital city for flights home.
