Laikipia, Maasai Mara and Tsavo Wildlife Safari
This 10-day fly-in safari uses a combination of lodges and tented camps in private reserves and conservation areas.
Experience the wildlife wonders of Kenya including the major attractions of Laikipia, the Maasai Mara and Tsavo.
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Your vehicle will be waiting upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and you will be driven to Fairmont's The Norfolk Hotel. This 5-star hotel is an oasis in bustling Nairobi with its own private tropical gardens--the perfect place to relax and unwind after your long flight and to prepare for your safari ahead!
Days 2-3: Sabuk Lodge in Laikipia
An hour flight from Nairobi and a 30-minute game drive delivers you to Sabuk Lodge where two days of adventure await--bush walking, camel safaris and wildlife viewing! Open-fronted cottages are perched on the side of a river valley overlooking the cascading Ewaso Nyiro River. Northern Laikipia is home to thousands of elephant, greater kudu and the elusive, endangered African Wild Dog. This is a great opportunity to explore and walk close to wildlife guided by magnificent Laikipiak tribesmen. If you wish to camp out for a night under the stars there is a comfortable fly-camp. Visit a colorful Samburu village and be entertained by their dances representing courtship and celebration.
Days 4-6: Speke's Camp in the Maasai Mara
Another flight and game drive take you to Speke's Camp, located along the banks of the Olare Orok River on a private reserve in the Maasai Mara. This is one of the best areas for viewing wildlife in east Africa, especially for the big cats as well as the annual great migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and other plains game. Speke’s Camp has eight comfortable traditional safari tents with en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Unsurpassed game viewing, picnics and sundowners, and the opportunity to embark on an epic walking safari in the Maasai Mara are just some of the highlights of this camp!
Days 7-9: Kipalo Lodge in Tsavo
Kipalo Lodge is in stunning Mbulia Conservancy and overlooks Tsavo West National Park, the Ngulia Hills and Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. The conservancy is an important dry season area for elephant and buffalo and the birding is superb. Because Kipalo lies within its own conservation area, guests enjoy the opportunity of going on walks in the African bush (unlike in the National Parks) for sundowners and bush breakfasts. Have lunch with the game warden and listen to the rich history of Tsavo. Embark on a patrol with the game scouts to observe how they protect the Conservancy first-hand.
Day 10: Departure to Nairobi
Leave early on a game drive and spend some time in Tsavo West National Park, full of history and diverse landscapes, before your scheduled flight back to Wilson airport in Nairobi.
