New Mexico Multi-Sport

Hike, Bike and Raft in the Land of Enchantment

New Mexico is a spectacularly beautiful land of contrasts, from its crimson-hued mesas and snowcapped peaks to its vibrant blend of cultures and fine galleries. Hike through an unspoiled wilderness of alpine meadows and cycle forgotten backroads. Raft colorful canyons and explore ancient cliff dwellings. Add distinctive cuisine and a selection of charming inns and you have the ultimate Southwest adventure!

Days 1-2 Santa Fe-Tent Rocks-Bandelier. Start the day with a hike through the unusual volcanic deposits at Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument before sampling regional cuisine at an acclaimed southwestern restaurant in Santa Fe. Then starting in the designated wilderness area of Burnt Mesa, we drop into Frijoles Canyon to end our hike at the heart of an ancient Anasazi civilization in Bandelier National Monument.

Days 3-4 Taos-Rio Grande. Accompanied by our guest naturalist, we cycle through Carson National Forest and on to Taos. Fascinating stories of the area's past are sure to spark your imagination. Then choose between a half-day of rafting on a class III section of the Rio Grande or a full day on the renowned Taos Box. Or you can simply relax and explore Taos' galleries and the ancient Taos Pueblo.

Days 5-6 Wild Rivers Scenic Area-Sangre de Cristo Mountains-Santa Fe. A nearly pedal-free descent through Carson National Forest carries us to the brink of the 600-foot-deep Rio Grande gorge. An alpine hike up Long Canyon with breathtaking views of 13,161' Mt. Wheeler, New Mexico's highest, provides a stunning finale to our southwestern adventure.
