Yellowstone and Grand Teton Hiking Tour
Hike and Ride Horseback in the World's First National Park
Experience the very best of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks! Tracing tranquil footpaths, we explore a pristine wilderness of waterfall-filled canyons, rugged peaks, steaming fumaroles, spewing geysers, and hidden hot springs. Witness the wonders of nature and view bison, elk, moose, and pronghorn (and hopefully a bear or two) in one of the world's foremost wildlife sanctuaries.
Day 1: Lake Yellowstone
Shuttle from Jackson to Yellowstone, our nation's first national park. Stroll the boardwalks through the thermal features of West Thumb Geyser Basin on the shore of Lake Yellowstone. After lunch we tackle Elephant Back Mountain for dramatic views of Lake Yellowstone below.
Day 2: Avalanche Peak or Pelican Valley
Head off to hike to the summit of Avalanche Peak with breathtaking, panoramic views of the craggy, snow-capped Absaroka peaks and the serene waters of Yellowstone Lake. Alternatively, roam the broad Pelican Valley, home to the seldom-seen grizzly bear.
Day 3: Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
View bison and other wildlife in pastoral Hayden Valley this morning. Then hike past little-known thermal features as we head to Artist's Point and the stunning chasm and thundering waterfalls of the Yellowstone River. Wrap up with a descent on Uncle Tom's stairwell into the depths of the canyon.
Day 4: Mammoth Hot Springs
Start the morning with a shuttle out to the Lamar Valley and hopefully a sighting of the wolfpack. Then enjoy a walk through open meadows of sage and stands of aspen to Beaver Ponds. The day ends with a horseback ride in the late afternoon or a soak in the "Boiling River" followed by dinner across the border in Montana.
Days 5-6: Golden Gate-Upper Geyser Basin-Jenny Lake
Hike to the Golden Gate through limestone rock formations along the Howard Eaton Trail and then explore the thermal wonderland of the Upper Geyser Basin. Evening is spent watching Old Faithful's awe-inspiring performances. The trip's grand finale is a water taxi ride across beautiful Jenny Lake followed by a self-paced hike to Inspiration Point and Cascade Canyon in Grand Teton National Park.
