Oregon Cascades Multisport

Inn-to-Inn Hiking, Biking, Rafting and Boating Adventure from the Columbia Gorge to Crater Lake

This tour offers a rich taste of all the grandeur and diversity that Oregon has to offer. We drive on scenic byways from fertile valleys to snowcapped peaks to high desert in a matter of hours. From the breathtaking vistas of the Columbia Gorge to the lofty volcanoes of the Cascades to world famous Crater Lake, we hike, bike and raft our way through this mountainous paradise.

Day 1: Columbia River Gorge-Mount Hood

A short drive up the Columbia River Gorge brings us to our first hike at Multnomah Falls, the fourth highest waterfall in the U.S. Our shuttle continues to the Hood River valley where we enjoy lunch with a panoramic view of apple and pear orchards with snow-capped Mt. Hood looming in the distance. We ascend the south flank of Mt. Hood through old growth forest, emerging from the trees with a view of Timberline Lodge on the ridge.

Day 2: Suttle Lake-Peterson Ridge

After a drive to the charming town of Sisters, Oregon we switch to pedal power today. We begin our ride along the shoreline of Suttle Lake with gorgeous views of Mt. Washington across its blue waters. Following lunch we continue on through pine and fir forest on some fun singletrack of the Suttle Tie Trail. The remainder of the afternoon is free to enjoy the many amenities of our elegant lodge or to hop back on the bikes for some riding on the Peterson Ridge trail network.

Day 3: Tumalo Mountain-Deschutes River

Our hike this morning is to the summit of 7,779-foot Tumalo Mountain, a shield volcano in the Cascade Range.  We pass through a rich diversity of forest en route to the cinder-covered summit. From the top we enjoy views of neighboring Mt. Bachelor, Broken Top and the Three Sisters.  We then venture into Bend for a thrilling raft trip on the Class II and III waters of the Deschutes River with the shore lined with ancient lava flows, towering ponderosa pines and quaking aspens.

Days 4-5: Crater Lake-Mt. Scott-Wizard Island

It's on to Crater Lake, the "gem of the Cascades" and the deepest lake in America. We hike from the east rim of the caldera up Mt. Scott, the Park's highest peak at 8926 feet, for sweeping views in all directions. We continue on to Crater Lake Lodge with time for a bike ride along the rim drive en route. The following day we hike down from the rim to the lake and take a boat cruise to Wizard Island, a cinder cone rising 767 feet above the water, where we have time for a hike to the summit and for a swim in Fumarole Bay.

Day 6: Crater Lake-Garfield Peak-Applegate Valley-Medford

We climb Garfield Peak to catch the morning sun rising over the caldera’s east rim. After breakfast we drive through the Rogue River National Forest and Rogue River Valley to the Applegate Valley. Here we bike ride through the gently rolling hills and vineyards of this wine-producing region, finishing at Troon Winery with a wine and cheese celebration. We conclude our adventure with a shuttle to Medford.
